Who are we?

@youthphonics

all-gender, community service, non-competitive, CI 4/5
YOUTHphonics is a student run, all gender, community service based acapella group here at UCLA! In addition to volunteering our voices for community events, we teach a Music Education class at Fairfax High School every Friday. This program was started in effort to provide music lessons and theory to high schoolers who do not have access to music education programs, as Fairfax High School's music program was cut a while back. This is primarily why YOUTHphonics was created. The high schoolers we teach, the Keynotes, sing with us at our final spring concert and Acappellooza. In terms of repertoire, we mainly sing pop music but song choices vary year to year based on the current group's sound and requests. Some examples of past performances and community service we've done have been: perfoming at Dance Marathon, Disneyland, caroling at Ronald Reagan Hospital, Bruin Run/Walk, singing the National Anthem at a UCLA Basketball Game, and many more!

“YOUTHphonics embodies the joy that music brings! There is nothing quite like letting your voice be heard while the people you care about stand beside you and do the same; it is so empowering. And that’s why we’re service based: music encourages, heals, and brings people together.”
-Haleyann Hart, YP soprano

“YP is the spice of life. UCLA wouldn’t have felt complete without the lifelong friends made in this group” -Taylor Keppel, YP Tenor
“Their Disney Love Medley? My wig was snatched. Chile...”
